Indiana’s wine story goes all the way back to the early 1800s, when Jean Jacques Dufour helped establish one of the country’s earliest successful wine-growing communities in Vevay, Indiana.
Like much of American wine, the industry was nearly wiped out by Prohibition. But Indiana wine found its footing again in the 1970s, when new farm winery legislation helped small wineries begin growing, producing, and welcoming visitors once more.
Today, Indiana is home to over 100 wineries across the state, each adding something different to the map: quiet vineyard views, small-town tasting rooms, live music, and local food.
